One Year Full Time Acting Program

OVERVIEW  Kirsten Clarkson, Artistic Director of Schoolcreative, has developed an intensive year long program of study offering a full spectrum of training.

The training is broken up into three parts.

INNER LIFE OF THE ACTOR was created to illuminate and develop the inner life of the actor. The actor comes to this through self-discovery and the study of human nature via traditional training in voice, movement, improv, and scene study.  Actors work toward becoming thoughtful, provocative and entertaining artists. Marlon Brando is credited with developing this sublte and truthful style of acting. 

THE INSPIRED ACTOR is designed to help actors find inspiration outside themselves and to further strengthen the skill set needed to build character using voice control, accents, physicalization, cultural influences, and historical figures - an example of this style is Johnny Depp's creation of Captain Jack Sparrow through the inspiration he found in Keith Richards. 

PERFORMANCE The final segment of the program involves the creation, preparation and performance of THE FINAL PROJECTS. The final projects of the program are presented in a 2-day showcase. Day One is a presentation of scene work. Day Two is presentation of one-person shows created by each of the artists. Both days will have a matinee and evening performance. Both showcases are a collaborative effort. Students are expected work on each others shows and to put in at least 10 hours additional unsupervised rehearsal time. Students are also responsible for publicity and promotion of their show. The idea is to create a system for actors to work in where they become independent professionals. 

PREREQUISITE Actors wishing to take this course must consider themselves relentless artists driven to exceed even their own expectations in their quest to create meaningful and entertaining work.

AUDITION: Please audition in person or via SKYPE. Your audition will include a SLATE (introduce yourself) and a 2-3 minute monologue (that you DID NOT write).

ESSAY: In your 500 word essay please explain to us why you want to act, who your inspirations are and what you hope to achieve from the program.

COST: $15000.00 (plus GST)
DAYS: Monday - Thursday
TIME: 9:00 - 3:00 (not including unsupervised rehearsal and class prep)

Actor Friendly Payment Plans are available. Actors who pay the total amount of the  FULL TIME PROGRAM upon registration will receive a 10% discount. Actors must demonstrate ability to pay tuition.
